Who I Am

Passion & Exploration

As professional Front-end Developer, I enjoy being part of successful productive teams. I am fast learner and can quickly grasp new concepts and ideas. Based on my academic background, I research and develop innovative and creative solutions to problems.

As for my educational background, I have obtained a BSc. in “Digital Systems” (2008) and a M.Sc. in “Technology Education and Digital Systems” (Track: e-Learning) (2010) from the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, Greece.

I am co-author of 4 scientific publications (3 book chapters, 1 International Conference Paper). I have received the Best Short Paper Award in IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies ICALT 2009, Riga, Latvia (July 2009). The paper titled “ASK – LOST 2.0: A Web – based Tool for Social Tagging of Digital Educational Resources” (co-authored by Alexandros Kalamatianos, Panayiotis Zervas, Demetrios Sampson) presents the ASK – LOST 2.0, an open source web – based application that aims to support the process of social tagging of any type of digital educational resources.

After three years of research experience, I shifted my focus to Front-end development using cutting edge technologies (HTML5, CSS3, LESS, jQuery, PHP, MySQL), tools (Netbeans, Git, Photoshop) and frameworks (Bootstrap, Zurb, KendoUI, easyUI).

Knowing how I can utilise frameworks, everything I do is hand coded, without using front end templating tools. As well a using a great number of out of the box plugins for common components like modals, carousels and tooltips, I have also written many of my own project specific custom scripts. Additionally, I am familiar with well established content management systems to allow complete control of any website, ensuring efficiency, flexibility and usability. My favourites include WordPress and Drupal.

As freelancer, I have gained the experience of working for a large corporation with complex team structures and development environments. The last three years of my life, I have conducted a contract with the IT company European Dynamics, which is one of the healthiest growing companies in Greece.
